Temporis awarded one star in the latest selection

CHICAGO, Sept. 26, 2018 — Michelin today released the 2019 edition of the MICHELIN® Guide Chicago. In this latest edition, Michelin inspectors have recognized 22 establishments that have been awarded one or more Michelin stars.

Located in West Town, Temporis appears in the guide for the first time with a one-star award. Owned by a young and passionate duo, co-chefs Sam Plotnick and Don Young, the restaurant is driven by the passion of the chefs and a small but very dedicated team.

“We are happy to recognize this under-the-radar establishment with a star for the 2019 edition,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guide. “The food is creative, personal and crafted with product that reaches the highest level of freshness, as seen in their in-house hydroponic garden.”

In a challenging culinary environment that has been impacted by multiple restaurant closures, Alinea retained its three-star award in 2019. Inspectors were impressed with chef de cuisine Simon Davies, who replaced the former executive chef Mike Bagale in May.

Bib Gourmands are awarded to restaurants that earn the attention of Michelin inspectors as offering great quality food at good prices.

Pacific Standard Time opened in May to much fanfare, as chef Erling Wu-Bower brings a welcome Cal-Italian flair to River North. The restaurant earned a Bib Gourmand designation for its quality sourcing, fine technique and creative edges.

Additionally, the 2019 MICHELIN Guide Chicago recognizes more than 120 restaurants with the Plate symbol, a designation given to restaurants that inspectors recommend to travellers and locals for a good meal with fresh ingredients and capable preparation.

Awarded a Plate designation for the first time, S.K.Y. was one of Chicago’s biggest openings and was named to the “Best New Restaurants” list by Chicago Magazine. Chef Stephen Gillanders’ cuisine fuses together contemporary technique with Asian flavors for a highly creative and enjoyable meal.

More than 200 restaurants appear in the MICHELIN Guide Chicago. Diners can find recommendations for establishments with notable wine, beer, sake and cocktail lists, as well as menus on which average prices are $25 and under.

The 2019 selection includes:

  • One restaurant with three stars
  • Three restaurants with two stars
  • 18 restaurants with one star
  • 58 restaurants with a Bib Gourmand

The 2019 MICHELIN Guide Chicago (ISBN #9782067230620) will go on sale Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at major book sellers for a suggested retail price of $18.99.
