MONTEREY, Calif., Aug. 15, 2016 —– Later this week at Monterey Car Week, Michelin will assemble all of the latest model BMW M-series cars at the Legends of Autobahn (LOTA). The 1M through M6 display is being curated to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the famed BMW brand.
The vehicles are being provided by BMW North America and BMW Car Club of America members. All of the vehicles will be displayed on MICHELIN® Pilot® Super Sport tires, offered as standard or as an available option on every original BMW M car ever built.
“This display will give every M car enthusiast an exciting opportunity to see all of these beautiful cars in one place,” said Johnny Valencia, Michelin North America marketing manager. “It is exciting to collaborate with our friends at BMW North America and BMW CCA to put this display together to mark the 100th anniversary of BMW. We are expecting a huge turnout on Friday.”
Now in its seventh year, the Legends of the Autobahn concours has become a local and regional sensation. The event will take place Friday, Aug. 19, at the Nicklaus Golf Club and admission is free to the public.
In addition to Michelin’s display at LOTA, the Company is also a presenting sponsor at the third annual Porsche WERKS reunion, which also takes place the same day at nearby Rancho Canada Golf Club, where attendees will be treated to a stunning display of more than 500 Porsches. Michelin’s display at WERKS will include a Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Cayman GT4 and GT4 Clubsport, all of which ride on MICHELIN® Pilot® Sport Cup 2 tires.
Lastly, Michelin will be present at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, the largest event held during the famed Monterey Classic Car Week, with approximately 550 race cars invited to compete in the world’s premier vintage motoring event.
In the garages at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Michelin will mark its 25th win at the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans with an interactive digital wall featuring each of the 25 winning cars since the first race in 1923. Michelin will also have Porsche 919 Hybrid LMP1 show car. This is a replica of the car that won the last two 24 Hours of Le Mans races.
