Michelin Adds New Sizes to Popular Defender LTX M/S Tire Lineup

69

GREENVILLE, S.C., Aug. 4, 2016 — Michelin announced today that it is expanding the MICHELIN® DEFENDER® LTX® M/S tire line with more than 30 new tire sizes, extending the DEFENDER® promise to deliver category-leading durable tread life to even more light trucks and SUVS. The tire is now available for nearly 75 percent of the light-truck vehicles on the road today.

DefenderLTXTwoTireLR.jpgReleased last summer, the DEFENDER® LTX® M/S with EverTread® combines durable tread life and all-weather traction in a single tire that is designed to better meet the higher-torque demands of modern light trucks and SUVs. With the EverTread® compound, the DEFENDER® LTX® M/S tire lasts 10 percent longer in severe conditions than its predecessor.1

The DEFENDER® LTX® M/S combines stronger, advanced tread compounds that hold up in tougher conditions even longer and deliver improved gravel wear, all-season confidence and better fuel efficiency. The result is prolonged safety and performance for vehicle owners in a range of tough conditions.

“The expansion of the Michelin Defender® LTX® M/S with EverTread® gives light truck and SUV drivers more options for tire durability and longevity without sacrificing safety and performance,” said Stephen Peters, marketing manager for Michelin North America’s light-truck tire and recreation division. “Along with shorter wet-stopping distances and improved snow traction for superior handling across conditions, the lower rolling resistance of the Defender® LTX M/S® will also provide drivers with increased fuel economy over the life of the tire.”

DEFENDER® LTX® M/S tires are offered with a 50,000- to 70,000-mile warranty. The DEFENDER® LTX® M/S is now available to consumers through more than 10,000 authorized dealer locations across North America. The tire is offered in 71 sizes that range from 15-inch to 22-inch rim diameters at a starting retail price of $154.

Just had them installed on a 2014 Chevy Silverado LTX. So far so good. Very smooth and quiet ride.Very confident handling and cornering. No improvement on fuel economy seen yet, but still evaluating results.
