LEXINGTON, S.C. – Today the Michelin North America, Inc. facility in Lexington that manufactures tires for the mining industry welcomed a group of more than 30 veterans onsite.
The veterans were treated to lunch and remarks by plant leadership. Each veteran also received a commemorative Veterans Day Michelin t-shirt.
This is the first time the Michelin Lexington site has hosted an event of this nature to honor the service of veterans.
“Our people are the heartbeat of our operations, and in Lexington, the spirit of service is woven into our identity, with veterans comprising nearly 10% of our workforce,” said Jeff Cima, director at the Lexington mining facility. “With historic Fort Jackson nearby, we are a community that holds deep gratitude for our military members past and present. As we welcome local veterans to our plant, we celebrate and uphold the strong legacy that connects us all.”
Michelin North America has a strong relationship with current and former military members, including an employee business resource group to recognize veterans’ experiences and mentor employees. The company has been named a best employer for veterans by Forbes magazine.
