EMPORIA, Kan. – October 5, 2022 – The leadership team of two manufacturing sites in Emporia hosted a ribbon cutting event today to celebrate joining the Michelin manufacturing network and their inclusion in the Michelin North America footprint: 22,500 people and 34 plants in the United States and Canada.
“We are so excited to be able to celebrate the Camso Emporia community’s inclusion into the larger Michelin network today,” said Jason Davis, manufacturing director for Michelin North America’s Beyond Road manufacturing plants. “The growth and the journey of these facilities have made it an especially exciting couple of years and we’re proud of our role in continuing to feed the world.”
Emporia is home to two manufacturing plants. The facility that produces agricultural tracks and wheels was acquired by Camso in 2002. At the time, the facility only had one track and 50 employees. Through steady investment in the area, the company has increased production, added a remanufacturing plant, and increased the number of employees to almost 300 between the two facilities. The Company has also invested $6.5 million in the last two years to expand and improve the site.
Michelin and Camso joined forces in 2018 to strengthen the mobility company’s global leadership position in specialty businesses.
The Camso brand specializes in off-road tires, rubber tracks and systems for material handling, construction agriculture and powersports industries. Camso products are designed to meet the unique mobility needs of each application in the off-highway vehicle market.
Michelin North America industrial plants produce nearly every type of tire, including materials and tires for earthmovers, airplanes and vehicles worldwide. Michelin continues to innovate and produce the highest quality mobility solutions to move customers forward.
