Michelin has partnered with Chicane to create a world-class footwear brand for professional drivers and motorsports enthusiasts.
Available now, the Speedster is a track-day shoe that features a Michelin® rubber sole design inspired by the tread pattern of the Pilot® family of tires. Designed to be comfortable in and out of the car, the Speedster is a low-top shoe with cowhide suede uppers, polyurethane midsoles for cushioning, and signature Chicane insoles.
IMSA racer Dylan Murry, who finished second in the LMP2 class in January’s Rolex 24 at Daytona, has been testing the Speedsters. He also has helped develop the GT1, GT2 and GT3 lines of racing shoes.
“Stability, grip, style. Can’t wait until all of you can try them for yourselves,” Murry said recently in an Instagram post.
- The GT1, in premium leather, is designed for racers who seek lightweight comfort, breathability and pedal sensitivity. The soft padded collars allow good ankle articulation into the pedal box. This and all GT shoes feature soles inspired by the Michelin® Pilot® Sport Cup 2 tire tread design and are anti-static as well as fuel and oil resistant.
- The GT2 is designed for club racers seeking top performance in time trials and high-performance driver education. This durable and lightweight shoe that also provides excellent comfort, breathability, and pedal sensitivity, as well as traction in the paddock.
- The GT3, which has many of the same features as the GT1 and GT2, is designed for track drivers seeking comfort, performance and protection at an affordable price.
All Chicane footwear features ergonomic dual-density insoles that keep the foot in a neutral position, improving fit, comfort and performance.
“It’s exciting to see this racing footwear line come to life,” said Tom Jupena, director of brand licensing for Michelin North America. “Chicane has created these remarkable shoes with racers and race fans in mind, and Michelin is proud to have its name on the sole.”
The Speedsters are available now in Austria, Benelux, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and the United States. The GT1, GT2 and GT3 models are FIA 8856-2000 and SFI 3.5/5 certified, meaning they’ve been approved by racing’s top governing bodies. Chicane and Michelin worked with licensee JV International to produce these new footwear lines.
