GREENVILLE, S.C., Aug. 31, 2021 — Michelin has been ranked No. 6 by Forbes magazine among the best employers in South Carolina, as the only tire manufacturer represented on the list. With a presence in the state for more than 45 years, Michelin is committed to providing motion for life for its customers, employees and the communities where it operates.

Michelin was included based on the results of an annual survey conducted by market research company Statista of 80,000 U.S. employees across 25 industry sectors.

“Michelin is honored to receive this recognition, especially at a time when people have endured many challenges since the start of the health crisis,” said Dave Stafford, chief human resources officer at Michelin North America, Inc. “We remain committed to developing talent in our state through workforce development within our walls and throughout our communities.”

Michelin manufactures a variety of products in South Carolina that contribute to the economic output in the state, from giant mining tires to tires for high-performance vehicles.

Michelin is focused on workforce development through the Michelin Technical Scholars program and Youth Apprenticeship program. Both programs provide high school and technical school students with a real-world application of their studies in a Michelin facility.

Michelin is committed to fostering strong community relationships. Partnering with 12 schools across South Carolina, the Michelin Challenge Education program provides support to public Title 1 elementary schools in the form of tutors, mentors, lunch buddies and financial contributions.

Since its inception in 1989, Michelin’s annual charity golf tournament has raised more than $9 million, and benefits 10 charitable organizations. The Michelin Corporate Foundation also supports fundraising campaigns throughout the state, including organizations such as the International African American Museum and the American Red Cross.
