Aiming for the top with team MS Mondraker
Greenville, S.C., March 26, 2019 — Michelin enters a landmark racing season this year as it returns to downhill mountain biking to participate in several of the world’s most competitive events.
Michelin will sponsor an exciting program of downhill events in 2019 in association with team MS Mondraker, which secured three Enduro World Series crowns last season. Team MS Mondraker is based in Alicante, Spain. The team’s lineup includes Laurie Greenland, who collected four podium finishes in 2018, and Brook MacDonald, who finished third in two World Cup rounds.
“Downhill mountain bike racing punishes athletes and equipment without mercy or bias,” said Shane Messner, Michelin director of two-wheel for North America. “The extreme force both must endure offers an ideal laboratory for Michelin to test and develop tire innovations for new consumer products expected to launch in 2020. Downhill racing allows us to refine grip, strength and agility for the many types of rapidly shifting terrains the downhill rider must conquer.”
