Michelin Pilot Tire Line Extensions Allow More Options For High Performance Piston and Turboprop Aircraft

Michelin’s latest bias tire includes extra-deep skid depth to help provide extra-long tire life.

  • More landings due to highly-durable rubber compounds and up to 21% deeper skid depth than the leading competitor’s tires[1].
  • Reduces overall wheel weight and helps eliminate tire creep on the wheel.
  • Designed for long-term ozone and UV light protection, excellent hydroplane resistance and helps provide for true track taxi, take offs, and landings.

GREENVILLE, S.C., July 26, 2023 – Michelin announces two new sizes added to the popular Michelin Pilot tire line, reflecting Michelin’s proven history of developing ultra-high-performance aviation tires.

Designed to be the best tire money can buy for general aviation aircraft, the Michelin Pilot high-performance bias tire offers the following additional sizes for the general aviation market:

  • 6.00-6 6PR     160MPH    P/N  025-316-0
  • 6.00-6 8PR     160 MPH   P/N 025-317-1
  • 18x5.5 8PR    160MPH    P/N 025-630-0
  • 18x5.5 10PR  190MPH    P/N 026-631-0

“The Michelin Pilot tire is already one of Michelin’s best-selling tires for the general aviation community,” said Scott Murray, VP of tire sales, Aircraft Business Line for the Michelin North America, Inc. “With their extra-long tire life, the addition of these new sizes will give general aviation owners even more options when deciding how to best equip their aircraft.”

Utilizing the latest carcass technology, the Michelin Pilot tire provides an exceptional level of both strength and durability. Its tubeless design also reduces overall wheel weight, helps eliminate tire creep on the wheel, and can be used with tube-on-tube type rims. Michelin’s exclusive manufacturing process results in built-in balance for smoother taxiing and even tire wear, providing exceptional balance.

“Michelin is recongized as the number one aviation tire manufacturer in the world,” said Murray. “We will continue to confront challenges faced in the aerospace industry and continue our history of innovation.”
