Michelin Tweel Named one of 2013 Contractors' Top 50 New Products

Equipment Today and ForConstructionPros.com readers select top products

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 16, 2013) –The MICHELIN® 12N16.5X®TWEEL® SSL, made by Michelin Tweel Technologies, has been selected as one of the 2013 Contractors’ Top New Products, a listing of the industry’s innovative products.

The top 50 list was determined by total reader inquiries from Equipment Today, which reaches 77,000 construction equipment owners, and by user engagement on ForConstructionPros.com, the construction industry’s most widely read web portal.

“We are honored that the Tweel was chosen as one of Equipment Today’s top 50 new products,” said Tim Fulton, head of Michelin Tweel Technologies.  “In today’s competitive construction market, we are addressing the contractor’s need for efficient and reliable mobility solutions.”

The Tweel is Michelin’s highly advanced airless radial tire that is currently being sold for use on skid steer loaders  in the construction, landscaping, contracting, refuse/recycling and agricultural industries.  Because the Tweel performs with traditional radial tire technology but requires no air, the risk of a flat or loss of air pressure is eliminated.

Originally introduced by Michelin in 2005, the Tweel is a tire and wheel combination that replaces the current tire, wheel and valve assembly.  It is comprised of a rigid hub connected to a shear band by means of flexible, deformable polyurethane spokes and a tread band, all functioning as a single unit.  It is available in the U.S. and Canada as a no compromise solution for skid steer owners.

The Michelin Tweel was commercially launched in October 2012 and received a 2013 Edison Award™ for innovation in the transportation category. To learn more about the MICHELIN Tweel, visit www.michelintweel.com.
