Newest guidebook includes 125 itineraries to discover the art and the nature of the most beautiful wine-producing areas of Italy

GREENVILLE, S.C. (May 29, 2013) – Michelin has released the newest publication in its collection of celebrated travel guidebooks, “Wine Trails of Italy,” which guides visitors over the timeless Italian countryside through scenic towns and villages, making note of the not-to-be-missed vineyards and wineries.

More than 100 specially crafted itineraries help travelers find their way through Italy’s 20 notable wine regions with recommendations for uncovering the natural, cultural and historical treasures of the country. With over 750 wineries to explore, the 400-page guide also provides information on the history of wine, its creation and contribution to the cultural framework of one of Europe’s seminal winemaking regions.

“Michelin’s new publication is the ultimate tour guide for oenophiles traveling throughout the renowned and cherished wine regions of Italy,” said Cynthia Ochterbeck, editorial director of Michelin Travel Partners.  “This is a resource you’ll want to use when planning a visit to Italy and take with you as you explore and taste along the way.”

With its star-rating system, Michelin’s “Wine Trails of Italy” highlights suggested activities, great places to stay and eat and historical context.  Colorful maps help travelers easily find castles and wine through the Roero region, truffles in Alba, and orange-blossom honey and brilliant rosés in Sicily. It includes detailed visitor information for every attraction, including tour times, parking fees and reservation information.

Michelin has done as much to enhance mobility as any company in the world.  The company patented the pneumatic, or air-filled tire in the late 1800s.  This was a milestone moment in mobility, permitting automobile owners to travel at great length in a single journey.  Then, in an effort to prompt travelers to enjoy their newfound mobility, the company created guides and detailed maps to steer motorists on their way.  The Michelin Green Guide “Wine Trails of Italy” is on sale now for a retail price of $21.99.  To find out more about Michelin travel publications visit www.michelintravel.com
