LOUISVILLE, Ky. (March 21, 2013) – Just “The Facts.” That’s what Michelin Americas Truck Tires (MATT) a division of Michelin North America, Inc. wants the trucking industry to know about the uptime and availability on the road of its line of MICHELIN® X One® wide single tires. And that’s why Michelin is launching a video at this week’s 2013 Mid-America Trucking Show titled “The Facts.” To watch the video, visit gowidesavegreen.com.

“Our MICHELIN X One tires have been around since 2000. That’s more than a decade, which is plenty of time for myths to proliferate, especially related to downtime and availability on the road,” said Ted Becker, vice president of marketing for MATT. “A decade is also sufficient time for us to continue to evolve the product and increase its nationwide coverage. X One tires deliver up to 10 percent in fuel savings and almost 700 pounds per truck additional payload capacity. Fleets and owner operators need to be able to take advantage of these huge bottom-line opportunities, particularly in this economic environment. Those concerns were met and removed long ago.”

“MICHELIN X One tires are now available at nearly 2,000 locations across the country, including major travel plaza networks such as Love’s, TravelCenters of America, and Boss Truck Stops,” added Becker. “In addition, data from MICHELIN ONCall emergency road service shows that the average roll time of a MICHELIN X One service call is comparable to those with dual tires.”

“The Facts” video was overseen by director and producer David Barsky. Barsky has been involved in several high-profile television shows, including “Dirty Jobs,” “Deadliest Catch,” “American Chopper,” “American Hotrod” and “Top Shot.” He has also directed other web spots for companies like Masterlock, Cub Cadet and Motorola.

“At Michelin, one of our guiding principles is ‘Respect for the Facts,’ which is one of the main reasons we wanted to bring in David to make this video and then promote it as broadly as we can, so that the industry better understands the true benefits of the MICHELIN X One tires,” said Becker. “We want to share our customers’ experiences widely, including through social media sites like our Facebook page, which has recently surpassed 10,000 likes.”

Also available on the MICHELIN® Truck tire website are numerous videos from customers sharing their experiences with X One tires from a wide range of applications. The videos’ highlights include truckload, less-than-truckload, specialty bulk hauling, food and beverage, pick-up and delivery, refuse, construction and government. The customers also outline the benefits they have seen from their X One tires, such as fuel savings, weight savings and ease of maintenance.

Since 2000, MICHELIN® X One® tire users have gained up to 10 percent in fuel efficiency compared with dual tires, resulting in more than 132 million gallons of fuel saved, translating into a CO2 emissions reduction of 1.3 million metric tons—the equivalent of removing 266,000 cars from the road. The tires also save weight, allowing for more payload, and are available at nearly 2,000 locations nationwide, including most truck tire dealerships and truck stops.
