Michelin Cycling Tires Sets Pro Sponsorships For 2015

101

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 9, 2015 – Michelin will promote the performance of its cycling tires this year in association with a group of seasoned and developmental cyclists in North America. Through its continued strategic relationship with competitive road-racing teams, Team Roger C. Peace and Hincapie Racing Team, these athletes join a prestigious list of professional cyclists that Michelin will sponsor in on- and off-road competitions worldwide.

Hincapie’s roster for 2015 is highlighted by the return of Ty Magner, two-time U23 National Criterium Champion, and Robin Carpenter, stage winner at the 2014 USA Pro Cycling Challenge. The Hincapie Racing team earned more race victories (39) in 2014 than any other development team in cycling.

Based in Greenville, S.C., Hincapie also serves as an official test team for Michelin cycling tires, providing critical performance assessments that help develop the next iteration of Michelin’s road-cycling tires.

Team Roger C. Peace is the one of the few independent teams in global para-cycling competition. The team, also based in Michelin North America’s hometown of Greenville, S.C., includes numerous national and world champions who are also amputees, paraplegics, quadriplegics, visually impaired athletes, and cyclists with traumatic brain injuries who compete in the hand-cycle, tricycle, tandem and single-bike categories.

Athletes from Team Roger C. Peace will compete in more than 90 events this season in preparation for the Para-Cycling World Championships and the Paralympics in Brazil in 2016.

These North American teams join an exclusive group of Michelin-sponsored international cyclists who test the limits of Michelin tires in the most demanding competitive environments worldwide.

ENDURO

The new range of MICHELIN Wild Advanced Reinforced cycling tires enters a second year of Enduro racing. Last year, the Wild Advanced line was utilized by champion racers Remy Absalon and Karim Amour.

The Team Michelin Enduro racing line-up for 2015 includes:

  • Remy Absalon
  • Nicolas Vouilloz
  • Karim Amour
  • Jerome Clementz, the 2013 Enduro World Series Champion
  • Team Life Cycle from Italy, with Manuel Ducci and Valentina Macheda
  • Team Shops Red Bike, with Vittorio Gambiraiso and Mark Bugnone

CROSS COUNTRY

In cross country cycling, Michelin’s Wild Advanced products include the MICHELIN Wild Race’R Advanced Ultimate tire and MICHELIN Wild Grip’R Advanced tire. Michelin will continue its association with Team BH-SR-Suntour-KMC, which features Julie Bresset, former Olympic and World Champion. Additionally, Michelin tires will also be raced by Stephane Tempeier; Maxime Marrote, last year’s ROC marathon winner; and Jordan Sarrous, 2014 winner of the World Cup U23 division and ROC Elite.

FREE RIDE

Veteran Michelin cyclist Pierre-Edouard Ferry will continue to ride on the MICHELIN Wild Advanced Reinforced in the Red Bull Rampage and other free-ride cycling competitions. Louis Reboul and Yannick Graneiri, two high profile and successful competitors on the FMB World Tour, join Ferry in the Michelin free-ride line-up.
