Michelin sole tire maker sponsoring, participating in 11th Annual Charity Race

GREENVILLE, S.C., (March 25, 2011) – Michelin Aircraft Tires will participate again this year in the 11th Annual SkyWest Mini Indy Charity Race being held today, in St. George, Utah. The proceeds from the event will benefit the local United Way chapter, as well as the SkyWest Scholarship Program. Michelin is the only tire supplier both sponsoring a car and participating in the 2011 event.

"The Mini Indy event helps deserving students through the SkyWest Scholarship Program, as well as some amazing charities through the United Way, so it's great to be a part of this event," said Harvey Stackhouse, director of OE business development, Michelin Aircraft Tires. "SkyWest is an excellent business partner, and they put on an amazing event each year. The Michelin team is looking forward to taking the lessons learned from last year's race and hitting the track again today."

The Mini Indy Race brings together teams from international and local businesses, community leaders and various civic groups to race miniature Indy-style cars through a twisting, turning, exhilarating course. Teams are divided into two classes, each with 20 cars. Both classes race four 10-lap heats. Teams must change drivers once during each heat, and during the driver exchange, teams must demonstrate their speed and skill by removing and
replacing one wheel during a pit stop.

The Michelin Mini Indy team includes members from several departments that are part of the Michelin aviation business including customer service, research and development, original equipment, public relations and the customer support engineering team.

Since its inception, Mini Indy has raised more than $650,000 for charity and scholarships. Over the years, teams have traveled from all over the world, including North America, South America, Australia and Europe to participate in the adrenaline-pumping event.
