12

Compared with its predecessor, the StarCross® 6 tires offer:

  • Up to 16% more traction when new1
  • Up to 19% more traction when worn2
  • Up to 11% more durability3

GREENVILLE, S.C., April 1, 2022 – Michelin will launch its latest motocross/off-road tire range, the MICHELIN® StarCross® 6 tire, on April 1, 2022. Developed in association with top professional riders competing at national and international levels, the MICHELIN StarCross 6 tire will cover 100% of the adult motocross market.

Comprised of five different versions to suit all types of track conditions and rider preferences, the MICHELIN StarCross 6 tire range is available with these versions: Medium/Soft, Medium/Hard, Hard, Sand and Mud (rear only). Tires will be available in dealerships beginning April 1, with more sizes available starting July 2022.

  • Fine-tuned on racetracks around the world, the StarCross 6 tire can offer up to 16% more traction when new1, up to 19% more traction when worn2, and up to 11% more durability3. These improvements mean that riders can push their bikes to higher performance levels, while at the same time benefitting from longer-lasting tire performance.

Technologies:

Tire Architecture

Tread Designs

MICHELIN® Adaptive Design™ offers a balance of grip and handling for the front tire and grip/traction and longevity for the rear due to specific positioning of the central, intermediate and lateral tread blocks in the three key zones of the tire.

Rubber Compounds

Used for the first time on a Michelin motocross tire, MICHELIN® Silica Technology™ (right illustration) offers long-lasting grip and improvements in tire life compared to compounds without the technology (left).

Performance Proven on the Track

The development of the MICHELIN StarCross 6 tires with professional riders and teams took place at MXGP, MXEURO and various national MX championships.
