New Michelin Tire Offering for the Shelby Wide Body GT 350, Super Snake, Shelby 1000 and GT 500
(GREENVILLE – Oct. 31, 2012) – Today, the best performing street tire in the world meets the best performing Shelby American vehicles in the world. MICHELIN® Pilot® Super Sport Tires and Shelby American are joining together to bring that performance to the marketplace in one powerhouse package.
Now fitted with MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tires, the Shelby American wide body cars -- GTS, GT350 Super Snake and Shelby 1000 -- and the GT500 Super Snake standard body all come fitted with the MICHELIN tires.
Shelby and Michelin began their collaboration by seeking the best fit in style and performance. Shelby required a tire that had unparalleled performance, so they invited Michelin to provide a tire that would lend support to one of America’s oldest muscle car manufacturers.
“Our team tested a variety of tires on the street and track and found the MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tires to perform best,” said Gary Patterson, vice president of operations at Shelby.
Designed for the sportiest cars and ultra-high-performance vehicles, the MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tire uses a full range of expertise gained from endurance racing, in particular the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
“A demanding vehicle requires a tire capable of delivering optimum performance. The MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tire is at the top of the Michelin ultra-high performance range and provides a level of handling and braking demanded by the outstanding vehicles from Shelby American,” said Doug Brown, brand category manager, Michelin North America.
The MICHELIN Pilot Super Sport tire achieves a unique balance between safety and driving enjoyment suitable for everyday road use as well as providing a total performance package for Shelby American.
“Shelby and Michelin share a common goal of delivering outstanding performance products that satisfy true driving enthusiasts worldwide,” said Patterson.
Adding to its already comprehensive portfolio of ultra-high performance products, Michelin launched the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tire in 2011 and continues to answer the call of performance enthusiasts worldwide.
