Nov. 16 will now be known as International Check Your Wipers Day, as Michelin has expanded the annual reminder date to Canada and Europe to emphasize the importance of optimal visibility while driving.
Last year, Michelin North America, Inc. and the registrar at the National Day Calendar introduced National Check Your Wipers Day, reminding U.S. drivers to regularly check their windshield wipers.
Visibility is an important factor in driving in poor weather conditions. A Michelin survey found that 92% of drivers agree that poor wiper blades can affect their driving ability. However, 90% of drivers do not plan the time to check their wipers properly and more than 55% do not know how to check their wiper blades properly.
Michelin has launched its “Hear Clearly” campaign, which uses the power of sound as a reminder that is time to change their wiper blades. The campaign seeks to help people identify the sound of a wiper gone bad.
“We are proud to celebrate International Check Your Wipers Day around the world to educate and remind drivers and their families to be prepared for weather on the road and be ready with optimal driving visibility,” said Shivam Saxena, Managing Director of Michelin Lifestyle.
