Michelin’s 27th Annual Charity Golf Tournament Raises Close to $1 Million for 10 U.S. Charities

Michelin North America today announced that it raised a record $947,000 from its annual charity golf tournament. More than 230 Michelin suppliers and business partners from throughout the world generously supported the event held at five golf courses in the Greenville, S.C., area.

For Michelin—the world’s leading tire maker with operations around the globe—this annual golf tournament is one of the Company’s most successful philanthropic fundraising events.

This event is an outstanding example of how we, in partnership with our suppliers and selected charities, can work together in creating a better way forward in the communities where we operate,” said Norman King, vice president of purchasing for Michelin North America.

This year’s outing marked the 27th time Michelin has hosted the charity golf tournament. Since 1989, Michelin’s suppliers have contributed nearly $5 million. Money collected from this year’s event will go to 10 charities serving communities where the Company has manufacturing operations.

“The generosity of our suppliers this year was remarkable; and, we are deeply grateful for their support of our communities where Michelin has a presence,” said Leesa Owens, director of community relations for Michelin North America. “The organizations that will benefit from this generosity have a meaningful and important impact on their local communities. Many lives will be touched by these contributions from our valued suppliers.”

The ten charities from this year’s list of beneficiaries include:
